16 Weeks Pregnant | Baby can Hear your Voice

You are now 4 months pregnant, almost half way, and with your baby and uterus growing so quickly, you’re probably really starting to feel it. You may even soon be able to feel little flutters (such an incredible feeling and milestone to reach).

To help you get through the next few weeks, and to support you on your journey, here’s some more of our favourite articles about others’ experiences of pregnancy. You may be considering whether to find out your baby’s gender at your upcoming 20 week scan, in which case you may also wish to be prepared for gender disappointment. This feeling is very natural and common, especially with second pregnancies, and while you are hormonal and possibly also tired, emotions will be heightened too.

  • 16 Weeks Pregnant | Gender Anxiety/Disappointment “What I’ll do differently this time” – this brave Mum talks about her gender surprise, the feelings she has towards her body, and what advice she would give (it’s an awesome read!)
  • 18 Weeks Pregnant – Young Mum, Struggling “Everyone else seems so happy. They seem so together and capable, and I just feel so young and like I’m doing everything wrong. I feel like everyone assumes our baby is whoopsie because I’m only 25.”
  • 18 Weeks Pregnant – Surrogate Pregnancy “Being a surrogate, bubs obviously goes to parents from birth and I can not wait to witness this incredible moment but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t apprehensive about how I’ll feel in the weeks following. My heart will be happy, it’ll just be an adjustment period of waiting for my body to settle and realise it’s all good.”

Now that you’re reaching the mid-point of your pregnancy and getting bigger, it’s important to think about the way you’re taking care of your body. It’s best for you and your baby to sleep on your side, and using a body pillow or knee pillow is the best way to do this. We love Growbright’s range, you can use ‘meg’ to save 15% on your purchase.

If you feel up to it, you can continue most exercise you were undertaking prior to pregnancy. See a women’s health physio if you need specific advice, and be mindful about the way you move your body. With both pregnancies I was fortunate enough to be able to continue f45 until the end, and wrote about my exercise journey here.

Eat Well & Often

If you can, continue to prioritise eating nutritionally dense food and drinking enough water. Prep meals for the next day if you’re in a rush for work, and always have snacks on you. Baby is growing so fast now, and will be using up much of your energy reserves too.

As your body grows you will start to get scratchy while everything stretches to make room for your constantly growing baby.

2. Keep moisturising your growing bump

There are lots of beautiful products on the market

  • Weleda Massage Oil – High-quality oil that blends nutrient rich botanical oils to help prevent and minimise stretch marks
  • Mustela Massage Oil– This beautiful oil provides lasting moisturisation, reinforces elasticity and soothes sensations of tightness.
  • Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter – With Shea Butter and Vitamin E conditions your growing belly with cocoa, shea and jojoba butters.

3. Plan a Babymoon and Make Plans with friend

Research into some day trips to do with your other half or friends. Have fun! Book something nice. Don’t worry, life doesn’t stop once the baby arrives, but it definitely a bit less stressful to get away before the arrive.

Enjoy a relaxing getaway now with your partner while you can too!

4. Forgetting things already?

Baby brain may already have started, and it will definitely continue, so continue your pregnancy diary or start one of our ‘to my child’ journals.
