20 Weeks Pregnant | Anatomy Scan, Gender Reveal & Preparing

20 Weeks Pregnant! You’re finally half way there, and the count-down really begins. Many people will be finding out their baby’s gender at the anatomy scan – do you want to find out yours?

Here are a couple of pregnancy articles you might enjoy reading:

  • 20 Weeks Pregnant after Miscarriage – “I had my 20 week scan on Monday which confirmed a happy, healthy, growing baby. I lost a baby mid last year and found out at my 12 week scan, all alone during level 3 lockdown.”
  • 19 Weeks with Hyperemesis Gravidarum & Third Pregnancy “Unfortunately I was diagnosed with hyperemesis so I have severe vomiting on random days mostly every morning, and sometimes from about 4pm onwards. My husband would probably say I have severe mood swings as well haha!”

If you are finding out the gender, it may be beneficial to consider how you will feel about either gender. Some people do experience gender disappointment, so consider whether you might want to have a private ‘gender reveal’ like Georgia:

Try not to compare your bump to anyone else’s

There are many factors to why your bump may be bigger or smaller compared to another, but you are on your own pregnancy journey and it isn’t helpful or positive to compare your body during this time. Focus on taking care of your body, and taking care of your mind by avoiding comparison.

Decide if you’re having a Gender Reveal

If you’ve chosen to finding out the gender at the 20 week scan, decide whether you’re also going to have a gender reveal. When you’re ready to announce the exciting news of girl or boy to your friends and family have you thought about if you want to do a gender reveal party? Plan a fun announcement picture? There are so many fun ideas on pinterest.

Set up a baby registry

If you’re planning a baby shower – you may wish to create a baby registry. These are perfect to avoid guests getting the same things as each other and also making sure they purchase things you need and don’t already have. There are so many free web pages you can use or particular stores can create registry’s for you in their stores if you want things from a particular store only.

Maternity Clothing

By now, the hairtie trick around your jeans probably isnt working anymore. So go maternity shopping. All of my pregnancy leggings were Lorna Jane – (they also do great nursing bras) you can use MEG20 to save 20%. I also tried the Aimn ones but found the LJ a much more comfortable fit, while still being firm enough to wear postpartum. Freddy Jeanshave some great denim styles for something less casual.
